An Albany City Commissioner wants an outside auditor to examine the Water Gas and Light Commission to make sure the utility is running as it should. This year the city commission made some changes at WG&L.
The interim director now reports directly to the city manager rather than to the WG&L board. But city commissioner Tommie Postell says he continues to hear complaints from citizens about their dealings with WG&L.
"Continuously, it has been a problem in the history of the city of Albany where the citizens didn't feel that they were being treated fairly, and I think that we can bring that to some conclusion'" says city commissioner Tommie Postell.
Postell's motion calling for an audit failed after no other commissioners choose to support him. The interim director was expected to be at today's city work session but didn't show up.
