Wild Adventures owners acquire Harlem Globetrotters

NORCROSS, GA (WALB) -

Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation announced Tuesday it has acquired Harlem Globetrotters International, Inc. from Shamrock Capital Advisors.

According to a release, the acquisition of the Harlem Globetrotters marks an expansion for the company into new media, audiences, and markets.

In a statement, the Globetrotters CEO Kurt Schneider said he hopes to build on the storied franchise's domestic and international success.

HFE takes ownership of the Globetrotters after they were under the care of Shamrock for eight years.

While details of the agreement are private, HFE said that the current management team as well as the active player roster would remain the same. The Globetrotters employ more than 90 people including staff, players and coaches.

HFE is the largest family-owned themed attractions company in the U.S.
