LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

A state representative took time out of his busy schedule today to read to some preschoolers today in Lee County. Ed Rynders read his favorite children's book as part of Pre-K week in Georgia. He and other state leaders interacted with the preschoolers and listened to the needs of the Pre-K program from teachers and directors. Rynders says it's important to celebrate Pre-k week to show the impact the program has on children.

"Pre-K is all about reading and it's very important that the kids get interaction from various community leaders," said State Representative Ed Rynders. "We've got people here from the state board today. It's just an excellent opportunity to have some real interaction that you very seldom get."

This is the 20th year the Pre-K program has been funded by the Georgia Lottery.
