Valdosta Police search for armed robber

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta Police are looking for a gunman who robbed a convenience store.

In his nine years in business on Northside Drive, Omni Food Mart owner Vijay Patel says he's never been robbed, until Sunday night.

Around 10:50 p.m. a man with a gun demanded cash.

He was black and wore dark shorts, white tennis shoes, a gray hoodie, and a baseball cap.

"That's what I did, just take what ever you want and leave me alone. Thankful to be alive, God saved me right now," said Patel.

The man ran off with several hundred dollars.

Valdosta Police are searching for a man they say robbed a convenience store with a gun Sunday night.

It happened just before 11 p.m. at the Omni Food Mart at 1509 Northside Drive.

The owner told officers that a man entered the store with a handgun and demanded money from the register. According to a report, the suspect grabbed cash and ran away.

Police say no one was hurt.

The suspect is described as an African American man, wearing dark shorts, white tennis shoes, a gray hoodie, and a baseball cap.
