ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany NAACP Chapter held its 36th annual Freedom Awards Banquet at the Civic Center tonight to say thank you to organizations that work with them to fight injustice and help make the community better.

"And now this is the day we are saying to them thank you thank you thank you for having been there for us when we needed you," said Marvin Jones, president, Albany area NAACP.

The theme of tonight's banquet was "we are climbing Jacob's ladder." The keynote speaker was Reverend Nelson River, a vice president with the national NAACP.
