Rattlesnakes featured at Berrien Co. Harvest Festival

NASHVILLE, GA (WALB) -

The fourth annual Berrien County Harvest Festival on Saturday will be bigger than ever this year as organizers say they are bringing more vendors to Nashville.

In addition to entertainment such as traditional grape stomping, this year's event will feature Robert Ackerman of A&J Snake Handlers who is one of the stars of Animal Planet's show: Rattlesnake Republic.

They will perform daredevil stunts with diamondback rattlers.

"Nashville is a small town we don't have a movie theater or a bowling alley, so we kind of have to "Betty Crocker" our own fun, the Harvest Festival and bringing folks to town is how we do that," explained Berrien County Chamber of Commerce Director Crissy Stayley, who helped organize the event.

Ackerman will perform three shows at 10:30 a.m., 12:00 noon, and 1:30 p.m.

The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Nashville.

Ackerman set a record for laying in a coffin filled with one hundred diamondback snakes for five minutes.
