SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

Some high school freshman have pledged that they will stay in school and graduate on time.

Worth County High School held a pinning ceremony for ninth graders Friday.

Guest speakers and community leaders including State Representative Ed Rynders were there to support the students.

The school holds the pinning ceremony every year.

"I want them to realize that we are all supporting their efforts as students. And being a high school student is very difficult but we're here to support them and it's very important that they have goals and we're here to help them reach their goals," said Worth County High School student Russ Chesser.

School officials say this event is important to show the class of 2017 that they have plenty of help on their journey to earn a diploma.
