VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

300 Moody Airmen are saying goodbye to their families as they prepare for deployment.

On Friday, airmen with the 75th Fighter Squadron and the 41st Rescue Squadron, along with maintenance personnel will deploy to southwest Asia.

Moody officials will not disclose their destination until they land. This fighter squadron is one of two combat-ready A-10C squadrons at Moody.

"Those last moments that you get to spend with friends, family, especially with children are so important to our airmen, before they head to get the job done down range," said Capt. Meredith Kirchoff, Chief of Public Affairs.

The airmen will say goodbye to their families Friday at 2:00 p.m. on base.
