Fun and farm-fresh food at the Bethesda Academy Wednesday night.
Residential students at the Cohen Cottage worked with a registered dietician and chef to make a Chicken Stir Fry. They learned how to cook, nutrition tips, and health and athletic performance.
"We know that getting kids in to prepare the food they're more likely to eat the food. Preparing half your plate with fruits and vegetables as we are tonight, they're going to be more likely to eat them in the future because they've seen them prepared. They've seen them hands on." said Brittany Lightsey, Children's Wellness dietician at Memorial Health.
The project is a community effort to fight childhood obesity with the Memorial Children's Wellness program.
Funding comes in part by a grant from Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.
