ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

If you plan to have a gathering in an Albany city park, you'll have to get permission from the city.

City Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday night for a new special events ordinance to regulate large parties. It will help the city organize and classify each event.

Leaders haven't come up with a permit fee structure yet. Commissioner Tommie Postell said "If you set a fee for your events, its going to be an event, if you say fee. But if you have it where its not a charge, that's all events also. So right now its in limbo."

This has nothing to do with gatherings on private property. It only applies to special events in public parks and places.
