BACONTON, GA (WALB) -

The Baconton Fire Department is looking for a new home.

The department owns their building on Highway 19. It was built by volunteers with donated money 18-years ago. But the department doesn't own the property.

Now, the landowner wants the fire station gone. Fire Chief David Forrester said, "As of now we don't have an exact date. I'm sure that will be decided at some time later, but for the current time we're still in our facility that we have now. We want the citizens of our district to know that we're gonna be here, and we're gonna continue to provide fire service and do it like we been doing it."

Chief Forrester says the department is working with the city and county to find land where they can build a new fire station. He says they may need donations to help get the job done.
