LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (CBS46) -

A unanimous vote by the Gwinnett County Commissioners Tuesday night will pave the way for a major residential project to move forward on a 130-acre lot just off Pleasant Hill Road. The commissioners voted to allow the rezoning of that lot so that houses can be built there.

Several homeowners in the area were furious with the move, saying it will lead to the downfall of their neighborhood and the exacerbation of already-clogged roads.

"There's quite a few people that are affected in this community," said Chris Horton, a homeowner in the area. "There's at least 300, 400 homes that are affected by this development."

The applicant for rezoning was listed on the county agenda as Rocklyn Homes, based in Duluth. They did not immediately return a request for more information on their project, when it would break ground or when it is expected to be finished.
