COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A longtime veteran of the Columbus Police Department and father of four was laid to rest Tuesday afternoon.

Nearly 250 people attended Lieutenant Lynn Joiner's funeral at Cascade Hills Church. Joiner is the fourth Columbus officer to die in three months.

Joiner succumbed to heart complications at St. Francis hospital following surgery.

He joined the Columbus Police Department as a cadet in 1976, serving nearly 40 years before retiring less than a month ago from the Robbery and Assault Division.

We're told Joiner will be cremated. He was 58 years old.

Joiner leaves behind a wife, three daughters, and a son. He will truly be missed by us here at WTVM and the community.
