MERIWETHER COUNTY, GA (WTVM) -

Tribal members of the Muscogee Creek Indians in Oklahoma returned to Georgia on Tuesday to bless so-called healing waters in Meriwether County.

The group held a blessing ceremony this morning at White Sulphur Springs near Pine Mountain.

Members of the public were invited to partake in the ceremony. Some believe White Sulphur Springs contains healing powers.

"What we found in mapping some of the trails in this area is this spring was right on the trail, and it was a sacred place to the Creek Indians, and what we have determined after talking to many people is that they were getting healed by drinking this water," said Don Wells with Mountain Stewards. "Even my wife received some healing on her diabetes."

The group will be visiting several more historic creek locations in the middle Georgia area this year.
