Man accused of theft nabbed in New York


A citizen tip led to the arrest in New York of a Savannah man who is wanted on theft and deception charges.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said Daniel Emanuel Alvin, 46, was arrested in connection with a Savannah warrant on first-degree felony forgery charges at a homeless shelter in New York on Monday. The process is underway to have him extradited to Georgia.

The charges stem from a fraudulent non-profit organization he operated in Savannah, according to a police news release. He was considered armed and dangerous by metro police.
