OCILLA, GA (WALB) -

Ocilla Police say someone broke into Empowerment Temple Church of God by Faith and stole hundreds of dollars worth of offerings.

Pastor Kenneth Moore never expected to find the office of his church ransacked by thieves.

"You've got have a bad mind to come in and do something like this," said Pastor Moore.

A big homecoming was held at the Empowerment Temple Church of God by Faith on Sunday. Lots of people attended.

"We truly believe it was somebody who had taken part in our services," said Moore.

The crook got in by unlocking this side door from the inside. It's in the kitchen area where dozens had gathered to eat Sunday. It was likely later that night the crook or crooks made their entry.

"Thieves don't care where they're at now, where they break in or where they steal from." said Moore.

The sermon preached Sunday focused on not judging others.

"I'll tell you what, we're tried by the words coming out of out mouths and that's what we were challenged with on the day this happened," said Moore.

While Ocilla Police investigate the crime, Pastor Moore and church leaders have put the rest into the hands of a higher power. But he does have a message for the thief.

There's consequences behind every action. I'd rather just see them turn from their wicked ways because that lifestyle don't care about nothing, it's either jail or hell," explained Moore.

But he says there's forgiveness in this situation.

"This may be a chance for them to do this and God convicts their hearts and turns them from their evil ways and they come to Him," noted Moore."[Our job is] not to judge them but to love them."
