TERRELL COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

An investigation is underway into how an inmate escaped from a south Georgia prison. He was recaptured Monday night in metro Atlanta.

19 year-old Francisco Alberto Arias escaped from the Terrell County Correctional Institution sometime before 8:00 p.m. Monday. Officials have not told us how they think he got away.

They launched a search in the area and put out a lookout for Arias. He was captured in Gwinnett County about 10:30 p.m.

Arias was convicted of more than 20 crimes ranging from burglary to theft to gang participation in three north Georgia counties . . . Gwinnett, Hall, and Dawson.

Arias will not be brought back to Terrell County. He's being taken to another Georgia prison.
