ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A month after the groundbreaking for the Tired Creek Lake project in Grady Count leaders say work is ahead of schedule. Contractors are installing silt fencing for erosion control and removing trees at the dam site.

Actual construction on the dam will start in November. Plans are also in the works for a new road and an Aquatic center. Leaders hope the 960-acre lake will attract visitors from around the nation.

"Obviously we want everybody in Georgia and Florida to come visit us and have vacations here but we don't know right now all of the amenities that we're going to have and what we can afford to do some of the conception plans are for a marina, boat docks," said County Administrator Carlos Tobar. "Some people have even talked about cables for water skiing, slides and swimming pool."

A meeting to discuss the aquatic center will be held next Thursday. The lake should be ready by December 2014.
