WORTH CO., GA (WALB) -

When news reporter Sherry Walls with www.worthit2u.net saw a Sylvester Police officer putting out stop sticks on Highway 33, she pulled into a pecan orchard thinking she might see a chase pass by.

Officials were working Monday afternoon to stop a speeding driver in a pursuit that was nearly 100 miles away from its start.

But instead, It came right toward her. Aaron West Joiner was being pursued, and pulled off the highway, bouncing through the pecan trees with a bunch of state troopers and other officers right behind him.

In video, you can see one patrol car lose its back bumper as the suspect speeds through the orchard toward a house. Macon Police started chasing this stolen car, but Joiner escaped.  State troopers then found him on I-75 in Houston County.

"He saw it coming out of a rest area and re-initiated the pursuit at that time," recalled Trooper Mike Maynard. "We pursued him south. Got off at Exit 97, I think it is."

That's when the chase came through Worth County, going south on Highway 33 right by Sherry Walls. She kept recording as the driver sped out of the pecan grove and started going north on Highway, with all those officers still chasing him. They put out stop sticks again, and were able to stop the car.

"The tires deflated. He gave up the vehicle here at this particular location," said Maynard. "He fled into a wooded area and was captured without incident at that particular time."

The chase ended about 100 miles from where it started and about four miles from where worthit2u.net's Sherry Walls was in the right place at the right time.

Joiner was taken to the Houston County Jail.
