More security greets fans at Decatur High Friday night football games

DECATUR, GA (CBS46) -

Decatur High School hosted its first varsity football game since a string of armed robbers targeted students for their i-Phones. Increased security was obvious around the stadium.

Fans were joined with officers from several different law enforcement agencies patrolling the area. Bag checks were also mandatory for everyone entering the stadium. The school is adding lights to areas, but in the meantime patrol cars were used to provide additional light.

On Aug. 30, Decatur High hosted Grady High School. Three students were robbed at gunpoint as they left the game. Officers said the suspects would ask for the time and then rob the student of his/her i-Phone.

Many fans, adults and students, said they were nervous about attending the game, but felt better with the increased security.

The school had also told students to stay in groups and keep their phones out-of-sight, which many said they were doing.

There were no reports of any wrongdoing during or after the game.

Hours before Friday's game, officers announced the arrest of three teens for the armed robberies. The arrests were made on Wednesday. D'Angelo Giles, 16, of Atlanta, Jaree Jackson Jr., 17, of Atlanta and Javarous Hammond, 17, of DeKalb County are all in custody. They are charged with armed robbery.

Police are still looking for a fourth teenager in connection to the crimes.

Officers said two of the suspects were believed to be former Grady High students. None of the suspects are or have been Decatur High students, according to police.
