Educators attend Character Counts Day

The second annual Character Counts Day in Chatham County was held Friday.

It's a day-long conference educators. Organizers hope educators will take away this one message that education is more than just teaching the subject matter. It's about developing the whole person.

"If we can embrace Character Counts among all of our students we will have a better community. There are six pillars of Character Counts. They are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship," said Dr. Quentina Miller Fields, of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.

Character Counts is a collaborative effort between the school district and the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum. WTOC's Dawn Baker was the keynote speaker.
