WALB GAME OF THE WEEK (9/20/13): Pelham, Seminole Co. ready for smashmouth showdown

Seminole County and Pelham are two very similar teams.

Both are 3-0 entering tonight's contest. They both run that option offense, and neither have a problem punching you in the mouth.
Both teams expect Friday's showdown to be a physical one.

The Hornets and Indians would both love to earn a big win before entering region play, and say a victory will be a shot in the arm for the winner.

With two teams that run similar styles, the difference will likely come down to who executes better and who is the most physical.

"We just have to outphysical them all night, "says Pelham RB/DB Christian Drake.  "That's what we've been doing to our  past teams when we've played them. So we have to bring it to them and not let them bring it to us."

The Indians say their game plan is similar.

"Just come out fired up and come out hitting," says Indian LB Brendan Kimble. "Come out hitting hard."

"We better smack somebody in the mouth," laughs Seminole Co. head coach Alan Ingram.  "They're big. Their fullback's really, really strong, so we're going to have to hit and tackle."

This is the final game before region play for each team, and the Indians and Hornets know what a win over a fellow undefeated would do heading into region.

"A win over anyone will bring your confidence up," says Drake. "But Seminole County is a pretty good team. That'll bring our confidence up even higher just at the right time for region."

The Hornets and Indians kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Hornet Stadium in Pelham.
