ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The National Guard recruiter who had a standoff with authorities Wednesday night will remain behind bars in Lee County.

35 year old Sergeant Jason Malone of Thomasville made his first appearance before Magistrate Judge Jim Thurman Friday afternoon and asked for a court-appointed attorney.

He has been denied bond until a mental evaluation is performed.

He is charged with terroristic threats and acts.

Investigators say he threatened a fellow recruiter over several months and threatened to blow up buildings Wednesday night.

Deputies found Malone in his car on the side of Philema Road. Traffic was re-routed until they convinced him to give up.

Officials say they didn't find any weapons.
