Burke County deputies searching for man who escaped

BURKE COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

Burke County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who escaped from court Friday morning.

Elbert Lewis Baynham was out on bond for other charges when his bond was surrendered, according to the sheriff's department. He appeared in superior court Friday morning on charges of interference with government property, obstruction of officers and disorderly conduct.

Jail personnel were in the process of taking Baynham into custody when he snatched away and fled from the courtroom, according to the sheriff's office.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Baynham should contact the Burke County Sheriff's Office at 706-554-2133.
