SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A man was found guilty Thursday of armed robbery, carjacking and several other charges in connection with a carjacking last year and chase with police.

A jury found Rashond Wesley Baker, 20, guilty of armed robbery, aggravated assault with the intent to rob, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, hijacking a motor vehicle and four counts of possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, according to the Chatham County District Attorney's Office.

A Gulfstream employee was by warming up his car before work at about 7 a.m. Jan. 9, 2012, in front of his home on West Bolton Street when Baker walked up to him with a gun and told him he was going to take his car.

The victim called 911. A few minutes later, police spotted Baker driving the stolen 2002 BMW near Louisville Road and Stiles Avenue and tried to initiate a traffic stop, but Baker sped off, according to the district attorney's office. After a short chase, Baker abandoned the car and ran off. Police chased him and took him into custody.

Baker was arrested and charged for a similar crime in Fayetteville, NC, in 2010, and that case had not yet gone to trial, according to the district attorney's office.

Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 25 before Chatham County Superior Court Judge James F. Bass.
