VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Police are searching for a robber who hit a cashier in the face and got away with some cash.

The robbery happened around 9:45 AM Thursday at Lee's Mini Mart on Ann Street. Officials say a man pretended to buy a drink, and as the cashier opened the cash register, the robber hit him in the face and took $250 out of the drawer, then fled. Police were not able to catch him.

"Detectives and a crime scene technician from the crime lab arrived to investigate. They believe the store video is going to help them identify the person so they're reviewing the video," said Lt. Aaron Kirk, VPD.

Police say the suspect is a black male, in his mid to late twenties with short hair, a beard and was wearing a black shirt. If you have any information Valdosta Police ask you to call 229-293-3145.
