3-vehicle crash kills man on Ponce De Leon Avenue

Kevin Lach Kevin Lach
DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

A three-vehicle wreck on Ponce De Leon Avenue N.E. killed a man Friday morning.

The incident happened near the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Ponce.

Two cars and a motorcycle were involved in the fatal collision.

DeKalb County police said Kevin Lach, 24, was traveling west on E. Ponce De Leon Ave. and crossed over the center line and struck the motorcycle head-on that was traveling east on E. Ponce De Leon Ave.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Nathaniel Hollis, 58, was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unclear what involvement a third vehicle had in the crash.

Lach was arrested at the scene and charge with DUI, failure to maintain lane and first degree vehicular homicide.

On Friday, Lach made his first appearance in court. He was granted bond for each charge. $10,000 for vehicular homicide and $1,000 for the DUI charge, and $500 for failure to maintain lane.

CBS Atlanta News talked to a resident who heard the crash.

"My wife and I were inside and about ready to go to bed, and there was a loud crash. And there have been many accidents on Ponce right in front of our house. We both ran out," said Ray Zuschlag.

Area residents also complained that too many drivers speed along Ponce.

The accident shut down the lanes until the wreckage was cleared.
