$400,000 winning ticket sold in Thomasville

With information from the Georgia Lottery-

Officials with the Georgia Lottery confirm to WALB that the Publix Super Market on E. Pinetree Blvd. in Thomasville, sold a winning ticket in the $400,000 Bonanza game.

Linda Huckans, 70, who declined to be photographed, claimed the prize money last week at the Tifton Lottery office.

But she's a veteran winner with the Lottery. Huckans won a $250,000 prize in 2011 and considers her second win memorable.

Huckans purchased the ticket while grocery shopping at Publix. "I put it in my purse and scratched it in the car," she said. "I looked around, signed the back of the ticket, and drove home to show my son, who said, ‘That's unbelievable!'"

The lucky lottery winner won her quarter-million dollar prize playing a different Georgia Lottery instant game while gassing up in Albany.  With that windfall, she retired from working as an office manager for a manufacturing company.

Her $400,000 prize will allow her to finish remodeling her home and make plans for her children.
