Most Wanted--St. Francis theft

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

It's a simple mistake one Columbus resident is paying for - literally. Leaving her car door unlocked in the parking lot of St. Francis Hospital has created a mound of financial problems for her and local police have started a manhunt. Police are searching for a man who stole this woman's credit cards from her car.

"This one happened at a hospital; St Francis Hospital, in the parking lot and they walked through, entered the car, removed the credit cards and went and made purchases on the credit cards. Of course it was a couple of days later before they realized the purchases were made and that the credit cards were lost," says Cpl. Deborah Whitley with the Columbus Police Department.

After tracing those purchases, it wasn't long before police identified the culprit. His image was captured on surveillance video as he was leaving a Columbus drug store back in July. It's just one of several stores the suspect made unauthorized transactions with the stolen credit cards.

So be aware - police say anyone can become a victim of credit cards fraud.

"Unfortunately this is the fastest growing crime in America today, also in Columbus. My advice is pay attention to your surroundings, pay attention to your credit cards or debit cards, anything you have because they can be picked up easily," say Sgt. Donald Bush with the Columbus Police Department.

If you know the whereabouts of the suspect call Crime Stoppers at (706) 653-3188. You can also send in a tip by logging onto iSolveCrime.com.

Remember you can receive a reward for information that leads to an arrest.
