Northside High School teacher charged with attempted sexual assault

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Sgt. Charles Lee confirms to News Leader 9 that Northside High School teacher Tucker Hearn, 37, has been arrested on a charge of criminal attempt sexual assault on a person in custody.

The female student is 16-years-old. Lee would not give any details on the charges.

Other sources say the student and Hearn were sexting and planned to get together, but their plans were intercepted by police.

Hearn is being represented by Stacey Jackson. Jackson and the Ass. D.A. Letitia Sykes have Hearn released on recognizance bond. The bond has been set at $10,000. 

Hearn was officially terminated from Northside High School on Sept. 27.

According to Northside High School's website, Hearn was listed in the Language Arts Department.

Valerie Fuller, Director of Communications for Muscogee County Schools, confirms that Hearn has been employed at the school as an English teacher since August 12, 2002.
