ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Housing Authority continues to move forward with a major redevelopment plan that leaders hope will attract tens of millions of dollars from the federal government.

The Authority has chosen two developers to work together to revitalize the area where McIntosh Homes is now located and turn it into a neighborhood called The Oaks at North Intown.

AHA Executive Director Dan McCarthy said, "This team said yes they are very interested. They've read our plan, they know our plan, they know what our community is about, and they feel like we have a winning opportunity here, and they want to be part of it."

The Albany Housing Authority got a planning grant from the Department of Housing and Urban to come up with a redevelopment proposal.

They plan to submit a formal application for the big Choice Neighborhood grant next year.
