ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A Moultrie woman returned after having surgery to find that her home had been burglarized while she was away.

Shell Jackson left for Atlanta on September 7th. When she got back on the 13th she discovered that crooks had stolen more than $4000 worth of her belongings. They broke in through a side window.

"It had to be somebody that knew I was going out of town and took this opportunity to take what they wanted," said burglary victim Shell Jackson.

Police say that owners should write down serial numbers of expensive items and keep as much information as possible about their belongings so that it will be easier to recover them if they are stolen.
