Senate-nominee Handel speaks to Albany Dougherty Rotary

Posted: Updated:

Republican Karen Handel spoke at the Albany Dougherty rotary meeting today as she preps for a run for a bid for a U.S. Senate spot.

This year's primary will run two months earlier in May of 2014 instead of July. The former Georgia Secretary of State says the two-month difference is a benefit to her campaign.

"I think that its going to be a slight advantage for me," Handel said. "I'm the only candidate who's run state-wide so I have a network already in place and good state-wide name ID. So, I'll be able to build off of that instead of having to start out of the ground like the other folks in the race."

Congressman Austin Scott's wife, Vivian, will host an event for Handel Tuesday night in Tifton.
