Lowndes deputies arrest man for coke, gun

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Lowndes County Sheriff Chris says that a man who already had trouble with the law is in jail again on drug and weapons charges.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday morning, investigators from the Special Operations Division of the Sheriff's Office conducted a search of a house on Bradley Street in Valdosta.

Investigators located a small amount of cocaine, a loaded .357 handgun, and items used for the distribution of cocaine, such as scales and plastic baggies, and arrested Donnell Mathis.

Additional investigation revealed that Donnell Mathis, 28, is a convicted felon and therefore barred by law from possessing any firearms. Donnell Mathis was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

Mathis faces charges of: Possession of Cocaine, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime.
