Search now on for new Dougherty County School Superintendent
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Dougherty County school board members are preparing to start searching for a new superintendent. Monday night they heard from officials from the Georgia School Boards Association about how that group could help with the search.
Board Chair Carol Tharin says that group could serve as a facilitator, but members won't decide that for another couple of weeks.
"We looked at a presentation from GSBA and they could possibly be our facilitator who will help us start the search and go through the search with us, providing us with advertising, and consulting about the candidates that present themselves for that position," said Carol Tharin, Chairwoman, Dougherty County School Board.
Right now, it's unclear how long interim superintendent David Mosely will remain on the job.
Under a new state law, he must step down or give up his retirement benefits by the end of this month.
The board is still waiting on a waiver request from the state.
