ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany public housing community wins top award for best public housing neighborhood.

Mayor Hubbard presented the Mayor's Award of Excellence to Hudson Malone Towers on Flint Avenue. The Award of Excellence recognizes public housing neighborhoods that stand out as a quality place to live.

Hudson Malone was built in 1983 and currently has 95 residents. Hudson Malone beat out 4 other properties for this award.

"They need safe decent places to live that are affordable and this property certainly fills that bill. Its more than a decent place to live, it's a very nice place to live," said Dan McCarthy, Albany Housing Authority.

This is the third time Hudson Malone Towers has won this award.
