Albany man arrested after shooting himself

A South Albany man is charged with making a false statement to police, after he shot himself in the hand and then lied to the cops.

Albany Police say Thursday night 18 year old Corey Wright told officers that someone in a black-grayish pick up truck drove by him in the 2200 block of South Jackson and shot him. Officers say they could see the barrel marks on Wright's wound. Finally at the hospital Wright admitted that he shot himself, and he was charged.

Hospital officials have not released his condition, but police reports say he had to undergo surgery.
