WALB GAME OF THE WEEK 9/13/13: TCC, Cairo about revenge?

Posted: Updated:
CAIRO, GA (WALB) -

Two teams with two proud traditions will meet in one of the best football atmospheres in south Georgia tonight. The TCC Yellow Jackets travel to Syrup Country to take on Cairo in WALB's Game of the Week.

This has been quite a cross-classification rivalry of late, but the Yellow Jackets took it to the Makers last season.

TCC jumped out early en route to a 39-13 win, the Syrupmakers worst loss since the 2004 state playoffs.

Both teams coaches say they remember what happened last year, but don't agree on this game being about revenge.

"We had a really good first half against them last year and scored a lot of points, probably the most we've scored on them in a long, long time," says TCC head coach Bill Shaver. "So I know they want a little redemption from that."

Cairo head coach Tom Fallaw disagrees though.

"We remember it as coaches. But a lot of these kids weren't playing," he says. "It's really not revenge. This is another game on Friday night  that we've got to line up and we've got to get better."

Cairo and TCC kick off at 7:30 p.m. at West Thomas Stadium in Cairo.
