ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Transit system may soon change the way bus riders get around town.

Thursday, the public was invited to two information sessions at the bus station on West Oglethorpe Boulevard to answer questions about proposed bus route changes.

Planners said the Silver line may over take a stop on Whispering Pines and Palmyra Road to alleviate rider congestion.  And the Orange line will begin at the Albany Mall and continue down Dawson Road back to the station.

"We've been analyzing our routes for quite some time now, and some of the buses are overcrowded," said David Hamilton.  "We've solicited comments from the public and what we're trying to do now is take those comments and go out and actually put them into effect to make the necessary changes to relieve the buses that are overcrowded."

The proposed changes are set to take effect on October 7th.  Riders who want to give feedback or ask questions can call the planner's office at (229) 446-2704.
