Albany gets behind "No Text on Board"

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Mayor Dorothy Hubbard says texting while driving could claim your life, and is urging drivers to put down their phones while behind the wheel.

Thursday, she announced that September 19th is "No Text on Board -Pledge Day," in an effort to improve safety on the roads and vow never to text and drive.

The Drive 4 Pledges Day is part of a national campaign raising awareness of the dangers of reading or sending text messages while driving.

The mayor was joined by an AT&T representative in an effort to improve driver safety.
