ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany's Covenant Presbyterian recognized first responders by providing a free spaghetti dinner for our hometown heroes.

There was also a slide show featuring pictures from 9/11 to remember those who lost their lives and honor those who risked their lives that day.

One first responder said she's glad people still remember the work of first responders on that horrific day and are willing to say thanks to those doing the job locally.

"It makes us extremely grateful because a lot of times we get forgotten as first responders, and I know that certain times of the year are really special to us, this day in particular," said Brandi Heldenberg, first responder.

More than 100 first responders attended tonight's hometown heroes dinner.
