ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Westover High School students showed their appreciation for Public Safety workers today.

Police officers, firefighters, and EMS workers were invited to Tammy Holton's 3rd period class. Students presented a tribute video, lit a remembrance candle, had a moment of silence, and served food to the guests.

"I think its greatly important, because they were so small and young I do not want it to be just another history lesson. I want them to understand how important that day was to America and how it has shaped their lives," says Tammy Holten, English Literature Teacher at Westover High School.

Students also wrote letters to the Albany police and fire departments thanking them for their service.
