ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

State leaders are encouraging you to make you voice heard in the upcoming November elections.  Secretary of State Brian Kemp declared September as Voter Registration Month.  More than 40-percent of Americans didn't cast a ballot in the 2012 elections.

We spoke with some South Georgians to hear what they think about voting.

"You should go out and speak your mind, because you as a voter have that right to decide who you want in the office and who you don't," said Kelly Carter, Registered Voter.

"If you're not passionate about the issues, and you can't get yourself in the frame of mind to become passionate, then perhaps you shouldn't vote," said David Silva, Registered Voter.

"Everyone has a voice, and this is the only way you can get your voice heard is by voting," said Terrence Fields, Registered Voter.

One person told us elected representatives will do whatever they want despite the people's vote, but everyone else said voting is essential.

You must register by October 7th to be eligible to vote in November.
