DOERUN, GA (WALB) -

A police chase in Doerun has police asking farmers in the area if the loot found in the back of a truck was stolen from their property. WALB now gets a look at the dashcam video of that chase that landed a Colquitt County couple in jail.

The man behind the wheel of the Dodge pickup is wanted on a probation violation in Doerun. The city's police chief hits the blue lights. But this traffic stop isn't routine. Neither is the chase. It barely reaches speeds above 60 miles an hour.

You see all that stuff in the bed of the truck, it's several pounds of metal and copper materials, likely stolen, and preventing any attempt at a fast getaway.

Chief Shane Fulford pursues the truck for several miles, even down a dirt road before reaching Evergreen Road in Worth County. You can see deputies ahead deploy stop sticks blowing out three of the trucks tires.

With no where left to go the driver, David Jackson, and his girlfriend Tammy Alford, surrender to law officers.

No stranger to DPD, Jackson was driving on a suspended license; Alford was once banned from the city of Doerun.

What police really want to know is where the heavy haul came from. In the bed, 6 to 7 foot sections of pipe, maybe from an irrigation system, a bright orange cylinder with metal hooks, along with copper tubing and wiring. Police want farmers to check their property to see if anything is missing.

Alford is out of jail on bond for failure to appear but Jackson remains behind bars charged with fleeing an attempting to allude. More charges could be coming if that heavy metal load is stolen.

If you recognize where it may come from call Doerun police.
