VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College will offer a diploma program and an associate of applied technology degree in Paralegal Studies. Legal assistant positions are expected to increase by 18% over the next several years.

Paralegals aid attorneys in nearly every part of the legal profession. They do a variety of tasks to support lawyers including maintaining and organizing files, conducting legal research, and drafting documents.

The Wiregrass Paralegal Studies program will provide students with training in ethical obligations, state and federal laws, legal correspondence preparation, family law matters, basic real property law, criminal law and procedure, civil litigation, tort law and substantive contract law, and wills, trusts, and probate.

Sean Scally will be the program coordinator and calls on experience practicing law in Topeka, Kansas as a staff attorney with the Kansas Association of School Boards. 

Scally is a graduate of Valdosta State University and Washburn University School of Law where he served as a teaching and research assistant while completing his legal training. 

Classes for the Paralegal Studies program will begin during the Fall Semester B Term starting on October 16. Interested students can apply for admissions now.
