PRATTVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Police say a man imprisoned in Georgia is being charged in an Alabama telephone scam.
The Montgomery Advertiser (http://on.mgmadv.com/17neZYg) reports 23-year-old Jesse Barrett Mainor faces one count of impersonating a police officer, even though he's already in prison.
Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson says someone posing as a police officer or court official made a series of phone calls to people in the central Alabama town demanding money.
Thompson says investigators tracked the calls to Mainor, who's originally from Prattville but is serving time in Georgia.
Georgia prison records show Mainor is serving 15 years for robbery and assault in Lowndes County, Ga. He's being held at Autry state prison near Pelham, Ga.
Court records aren't available online to show whether Mainor has an attorney in the Alabama case.
