ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A pedestrian has been hit by a car in front of Monroe High School.

APD says that Donte Carter, 17, was hit by a 2001 Ford Expedition driven by Leresa Harris, 32.

Carter remained in fair condition at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Tuesday night.

He was walking south on Lippitt Drive when he crossed in front of Harris who was traveling east on Lippitt Drive.

Carter was taken to the hospital for further observation. Charges are pending the conclusion of an investigation.

APD's Traffic Unit reminds everyone to look both ways and cross safely at roadways in heavy traffic areas and school zones especially if there are no crossing guards or crosswalk markings.
