Two charged in connection with Sumter Co. murder

SUMTER CO., GA (WALB) -

A murder suspect and his friend are in jail in Sumter County.

Investigators say 24 year-old Miguel Hilber stabbed Oscar Reyes to death. 30 year-old Melvin Carcamos is charged with tampering with evidence and obstruction.

Investigators say Hilber the men were drinking and got into a fight about 1:00 a.m. Saturday at a home at Lexington Circle Mobile Home Park.

Monday evening Sheriff Pete Smith told us, "We'll probably wrap up most of this by tomorrow. The suspects will be charged. Warrants have already been taken for them. We just hate that these kind of things happen, but they do happen."

Monday afternoon, investigators found the knife they say Hilber used to stab Reyes.
