AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

A murder took place around 1:00 Sunday morning in Sumter County, and Sheriff Pete Smith says his office has made an arrest in connection with the case today.

Sheriff Smith said deputies were called to 107 Lexington Circle in reference to an unconscious person. When they got there, deputies found Oscar Reyes of Americus, dead.

They contacted the GBI to assist in the investigation.

Deputies identified a suspect, Hilber Morales-Miguel, 24, of Americus in the parking lot of the Waffle House Restaurant in Americus.  He was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation is continuing on this date, to include additional searches and interviews.

Formal charges will be filed on Tuesday against Morales-Miguel.
