A Darton wrestler who was hospitalized for heat illness has been flown to a Florida hospital.

Family members say around 2am Sunday, 20-year-old Ben Richards was airlifted from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida because of liver failure.  He remains in critical condition.

"He had liver shock and they're counting on getting the kidneys going and that will help the situation with the liver.  So there's nothing that can be done, there's no secret medicine. The body has got to break it down and it could be days or weeks. So we're in a holding pattern while they're maintaining him to see if they can get the kidney's functioning," said Chuck Richards, the father of Ben Richards.

Richards collapsed Wednesday while on a five mile run with wrestling teammates.  Alex Washington was also hospitalized.  Washington remains in serious condition at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
